Andy Seuss rolled out a new racecar in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. That mount, combined with some heads up driving and smart pit strategy took him into the lead at the Magic Mile for the first time in his career. Unfortunately, tangling with the car of Eric Goodale while trying to maintain that lead led to a wreck that dropped Seuss to a finish of 21st.
“We wanted a good finish,” said Seuss. “I was driving my heart out there. The car was awesome, the guys gave me a great car, a brand new car. We were leading some laps at New Hampshire. We started deep in the field and got ourselves in the top ten by pit stops and we just decided to take a chance and stay out. I don't know if we would have done it twice or not seeing how it worked out. We had a good car, drove it to the top ten and took a shot on pit strategy. Overall, the car's awesome.
“We just got together, got real tight, tight racing, that's all I can say. I don't know if he came down on me or if I came up on him. It was tight racing for the lead at New Hampshire. I'd like to see a replay, but I don't know.
The New Hampshire race sets up a busy stretch of racing for Seuss and his various teams.
“Caraway, with the Whelen Southern Modified Tour in the Riggs Racing number 47 [is next] and then July 10th at Lee New Hampshire and then probably the True Value race at Thompson where we might see this red car back out again.”
The Riggs Racing #47 with Seuss at the controls will compete on Friday, July 3rd at Caraway Speedway (NC).
