Seuss Just Cannot Shift into the 75 Lap Race at Thompson
Recent clutch troubles continued for Andy Seuss as he drove his #70 Modified in Thursday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Thompson Speedway’.

“We came in on lap 24 to make an adjustment, but we had been suffering from clutch issues all night,” said Seuss.  “I could not get the clutch to disengage. It was hard to get the car rolling. I always needed a push so we worked on it after time trials. I had to start last because of it.”

Seuss started to work his way up through the field but his troubles continued when he had difficulty shifting the car.

“I thought that we had it fixed, but it was not fixed so it must be the throttle bearing itself must be ruined. So that was making my shifting a little trouble. Then they stopped me at the end of pit road and I could not get it going again. I tried to get it going on the starter but something in the transmission broke.”

Unlike the team’s last race at All-Star Speedway, the #70 team did not recover from the clutch issues to finish the race. What the #70 team did salvage though from the Thompson race were lessons learned.

“We came here because we wanted to shake down the car and get the bugs out of it and it is a good thing that we did. Now we will just focus on getting to Loudon and hopefully having a clean slate there.”

Last year Andy hit the unforgiving first turn wall during Thompson’s Second Annual Modified Mania race. The car was placed back into the trailer in pieces.  The team then purchased a replacement car from Zach Sylvester and prepared it to run future NWMT races.   That was the car that they raced this weekend.

“This was my first time back since the big wreck. I think that I got right back into it. I was excited to get back here. I was looking for a better finish to redeem myself more than anything but I love driving here and I cannot wait to come back.”

“The car is in one piece for the most part. So we are in good shape. We would have been in trouble and tough shape if we wrecked the car tonight.”

The #70 team is now tweaking the team’s NWMT car to get it ready for New England’s premier Modified race of the summer at New Hampshire International Speedway.

“It is a different car then we had last year, but with a lot of the same components. We had a very fast car at the end of the race. Hopefully this one will be the same.”
