Seuss Collects Top 20 Finish at New Hampshire
Drafting With a Southern Competitor Helps With March Through the Pack
Andy Seuss finished a respectable 18th in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at New Hampshire International Speedway, but the young driver was looking for a little bit more in his home state appearance at the largest track where Modifieds race.  Seuss had finished eighth at New Hampshire the last time out and was hoping to improve on that this time around with a newer car in his stable.

“The car was phenomenal,” said Seuss.  “I was real happy to see that.  The older car that we ran here in the past was something that we worked on and worked on to get pretty good.  When we got this car, we didn't know whether to keep it [with the standard] Troyer or use our own set-up and we decided to get it as close to the old car as possible.  It really paid off because the car was really, really good.  If luck had been different, I believe that we could have battled up to the top five.”

Part of the reason for Seuss' finish was because of a late-race spin, where he went around in turn one but did not hit anything and stayed on the lead lap.

“I just got in there too hot with old tires.  I was maybe a little too high too.  I got into the marbles and I tried to save it, but it went around.  It felt like the longer spin that I was ever in, but I just barely caught the wall with the left rear corner.  So it wasn't too bad.”

Although this was an appearance on the “northern” portion of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Seuss wasn't too far away from another regular on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.  He and Brian Loftin drafted together to work their way up through the field after qualifying was rained out and both had to start in the rear due to a limited number of 2008 WMT points.

“Brian was helping me more than anything,” said Seuss.  “I was behind him for a little bit and I sucked up real good, so we tried it with me in the front and that worked really good.  I was making the holes and Brian was following me through them.  Then he'd help me pick up speed on the straightaways.  That was cool.  I really enjoy racing with Brian.  We raced at Caraway and finished one-two.  He's a great guy to race with and I'm glad he had a good finish.”

Seuss will return to the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour this Friday night at Caraway Speedway (NC).
